Over 350 pipeline tests on a
wide variety of slurries have been performed in the GIW Hydraulic Testing Laboratory over the last 30 years. These tests provide GIW and its customers with critical design information necessary to implement many different types of solids transport systems properly.
To meet growing customer demand, the laboratory has undergone many equipment additions and facility expansions.
The most recent expansion involved the removal of several pipelines to enable the installation of a 56,400 gallon sealed water tank and four test loops -- the largest is 48 inches in diameter -- all in compliance with Hydraulic Institute Standards.
GIW can validate under controlled steady-state conditions any centrifugal pump currently manufactured with an impeller diameter up to 113 inches and operating up to 100,000 gal/min.
Slurry testing capabilities in pipelines from three - 20 inches in diameter enable prototype through full-scale testing of slurries and provide pump and pipeline solids effect, deposit velocity, and other critical design parameters.
